The second stop of our trip was Mykonos! I had no idea what to expect from Mykonos beforehand and I was honestly most excited to visit Santorini, but boy oh boyyy did Mykonos not disappoint one bit!! Hands down one of my favorite places I have EVER been! One of the best ways to get from island to island is by a ferry, so we booked a ferry to take us from Athens to Mykonos. The ferry took about 2-2.5 hours but it was a nice time to relax, catch up on emails, and edit photos. Once we arrived in Mykonos we were picked up by a driver from our hotel. Luckily our hotel offered transportation; I will get into more details about later, but it was honestly so helpful that they offered this service.
Mykonos is a pretty small island. The roads are very narrow and there are so many people on the island this time of year! It took us about 15 minutes or so to get from the port to our hotel. We stayed at Kensho Ornos, which is a boutique hotel overlooking Ornos Bay. The hotel offers only 35 rooms, making it pretty small, but we really loved it. The hotel was absolutely beautiful and located in a good area. It was close to a bus stop which is convenient when needing to get around the island. It was also a great location to easily access Ornos Beach, the town, and other hot spots on the island. It was definitely a more pricey hotel (it’s 5 stars), but we loved it so much and are happy with our decision to stay there. The service was so great and the staff was always so helpful and attentive. The rooms were roomy and clean and all offered a balcony with a hot tub. The food was delish and they offer their guests free breakfast every morning which was a huge plus. It was amazing! It was also so great that the hotel offers transportation around the island, however, it was not cheap lol! We paid about $20 USD each way for a ride, except one night when we wanted to go to Scorpios for dinner. I kid you guys not… the restaurant was like 10 minutes away and the rate to go there and back was $100 USD round trip! SHOOK. It was ridiculous but the island only has like 20 serviced taxis so it’s nearly impossible to get around by taxi. The only other option is the bus but that took forever sometimes, so for our dinners we always opted for the hotel transportation. It was super nice they offered that but the pricing was over the top for sure! But overall we were very happy with our stay and I would totally recommend guys checking it out if you’re looking to plan a trip to Mykonos!
WHAT TO DO IN MYKONOS:
Mykonos is known as the party island and it 10000% is that! There are definitely beautiful beaches to relax but here you will find a ton of beach clubs and parties as well. The island is super lively and you’re guaranteed to find people dancing on tables, drinking a lot champs, and just having a great time. I loved that about Mykonos! Here are my recs on things to do on the island:
- Visit Mykonos Town: Here is where you will find all the cute narrow, cobble stoned, streets that are painted crisp white with hints of blue. It is soooo beautiful and has so much character. I absolutely loved the town. Once you get into town, I recommend walking around and through every little street. You will find a ton of restaurants, small bites, bars, local boutiques, and even commercial stores like Sephora and Louis Vuitton. We visited the town twice, once during the day and once during the evening through the night. It’s also so pretty at night because the whole area is lit up. Just FYI wear comfortable shoes!! I wore kitten heels to dinner the first night there and almost twisted my ankle like 4 times lol because the cobble stones are super bumpy and uneven! I would opt for flats 100%!

- Visit the beach clubs: As I mentioned above, the beach clubs are super popular in Mykonos. There are so many good spots and I wish I had time to visit them all!! Some of the most popular are Nammos, Scorpios, Principote, and Paradise. I only had the chance to visit Nammos and Scorpios and loved them both! Nammos is located on Psarou beach which was one of my favorites. It’s so gorgeous!
Kensho Psarou
- Visit Nammos Village: Probably one of the bougiest shopping spots I have ever seen, this place was literally heaven. With stores like Dior, Louis Vuitton, Balenciaga, Dolce & Gabanna, and many more – this place is a dream and it’s hard not to spend all your money there! A lot of the designer stores here carried items unique to Mykonos, which means you could only find those items at this location. There was so much good stuff! Also, it was the most Instagrammable place. I loved it so much!
- Eat good food and drink good drinks: I mean duh! Everything on the island was so delish! Our two favorite meals had to be lunch at Kensho Psarou and dinner at Scorpios. Kensho Psarou is the sister property of the hotel we stayed at and this one was located right next to Nammos. We wanted to spend a day there because the beach was gorgeous and we wanted to see Nammos Village and possibly eat at Nammos. We rented a couple beach beds and ordered some amazing food and a bottle of wine. The sushi was beyond and the tacos were even better! I really recommend grabbing a bite to eat there if you want to spend a day at Psarou Beach! We also tried Nammos later in the evening but the food wasn’t at good as we had expected. The ambiance and vibe was great though, such good music! My favorite dinner spot had to be Scorpios by far. Literally everything about this place was pure magic. The ambiance was gorgeous, the food and drinks were the best we had, and the music was a whole mood. It was a complete vibe and we loved every minute of it. I would recommend going to Scorpios before sunset and grabbing a drink while enjoying the view and music. You can go down to the beach and walk around, it’s a great place for gorgeous golden hour photos as well! Then have dinner as the sun goes down and once you’re done you can go back on the beach for good music all night long. It was my favorite spot in Mykonos by far!! 10/10!
Nammos

Scorpios
the iced lattes in Greece are heavenly, a must try!!
Kensho Ornos
- Visit Little Venice: This is a long stretch of cute restaurants along the water, it’s the perfect spot to come for sunset drinks or dinner. It’s romantic and beautiful, I recommend making reservations early so you make sure to get a good seat by the water!
FINAL THOUGHTS ON MYKONOS:
- Make sure to dress comfortably when exploring, especially comfortable shoes
- It gets really hot in the summer and humid at times, but it also gets really windy (I’ve heard stories of people not being about to dock at the port because of how windy it is)
- There was never one moment where I felt unsafe in Mykonos, which was amazing. However, when I returned I did hear some stories of burglaries on the island at AirBnbs and rental properties which was shocking to hear. If you’re staying at a hotel/resort I wouldn’t worry too much about it because I honestly have never felt more safe than I did there, but if you opt for a rental or AirBnb, just be cautious and make sure to lock up, don’t bring valuables, etc.
- Mykonos is EXPENSIVE. Dinner for two of us cost over $100 every night (which included 1 drink each). So keep in mind that it’s not really a cheap place to visit. Cocktails were over $20 each (our drinks at Nammos were $35 each!!) and food at a good restaurant will be pricey. There are definitely cheaper options on the island but if you’re looking for a great dining experience at the trendy popular restaurants, it’s pretty pricey.
- Make reservations in advance, especially at the popular restaurants. Those book up fast so you want to make sure to book asap
- Mykonos high season is June-September and the locals I spoke with recommend visiting in July or September. The island is pretty much closed the rest of the year so if you are planning on visiting, it is definitely a summer spot.
Overall Mykonos was one place to remember! It’s one place I want to always come back to so I can’t wait to visit again!
