CASUAL IN DENIM

This past weekend my family and I headed back up North to visit my sister who attends UC Berkeley. The occasion was parents weekend, so it was great to spend time together and do some fun activities with the fam! It was a fun filled and busy weekend so I didn’t think I would have time to get a shoot in – however, I was wrong! Luckily we had some time on the last day and I had to get some shots in, the area was just too cute to pass on! Today’s look is much more casual than my usual looks – jeans, a lace up button down, and booties (of course). I love a good pair of jeans, as I’m sure everyone does. Of course the right pair has to fit the criteria of both style and comfort, and these jeans do just that. I recently got these 711 skinny Levi’s (thanks to Le Tote) and I’m a huge fan. Surprisingly this is my first pair of Levi’s jeans and I think they’re great. What I love about the brand is that they do a great job of having a huge selection of jeans fit for anyone and their personal style. I’m more of a dark wash type of girl but I definitely pick the jeans I’m going to wear based on the occasion. I tend to pull out the lighter washed denim on more casual days – it is definitely a more laid back look. If you’re looking to dress up your outfit but still want to wear jeans, I would definitely opt for a darker wash.

I’ve discussed the hot trend of lace ups before on my blog. This is one trend I am so drawn too and don’t see it going away anytime soon. Whether it is a top or dress, lace ups add that extra punch to any look and that is exactly why I opted to pair my jeans with this top. The overall look is casual, but the pocket panels, lace, and buttons on the top dress up the casual look a bit. I tied the outfit together with a pair a black booties, my Louis side bag, and gold accessories.

Dressing casual doesn’t mean you have to look boring or bland. I love to dress casual but I like to make sure I’m always accessorizing and pairing my look with an awesome pair of shoes and handbag! Also, throwing on a nice top such as the one I’m wearing can add a lot to the look. You can do a lot with denim, it’s all about styling it the right way for the look you’re feeling!
